Working with the singing voice there are two main courses of action, that of voice training and vocal coaching. We will work with you to determine the best application of principles of the voice to your current level and understanding.
Voice Training: We will be working with the mechanics of making a sound and how to use the breath, breath support, diction, phrasing.
- Singer becomes independent of instruction
- Singer learns to self-observe and to adjust to the situation
- Singer learns to make good choices in solving vocal problems
- Work usually includes elements of vocal coaching
Vocal Coaching: The singer and/or coach choose music appropriate for the voice. Once material is chosen the best key is found, and work begins on all the song elements, preparing material satisfactorily and making vocal , stylistic and artistic choices. Strictly speaking, vocal coaching assumes a secure technique and the work is solely with the material.
